Yearning For Love Part 4

written by: Stina

"Nick…we…my mom spent too much on drinking and we don't have enough…enough…" my voice cracked, "we don't have enough money to stay at my house so we're moving to apartments in North Carolina. " I said, tears streaming down my face. "Oh, you are? Well…umm…I guess…we will see each other again!" Nick said, not even sadly. At first I felt hurt by his lack of emotion and then I thought about it, he was being strong for me, totally Nick- like. "Can we play one last game of Nintendo?" "I have to ask my mom, come with me." I said, knowing she wouldn't say no with Nick around. "Can I have 15 more minutes? I want to play one last game with Nick." "All right, but make it fast."

We went over to Nick's house and played the game. I beat him. "You beat me!!" he said, happily. It was the 1st time I had beaten him. "I learned from the best!" Nick gave me a hug and I could tell he was crying by the tears that I felt on my shoulder. "Nick," I said, looking him in the eyes, "Don't ever forget me." "I could never forget you. When I get my 1st record I'm going to dedicate it to you, so look at the messages in the book thing, you'll be in there. I promise, but only if you promise me you'll think hard about what I said about your mom. It will help her, not hurt her. I promise if you promise." "Oh why do you keep on nagging me about that?" "Because I care about you, I just don't want you to get hurt." "Ok Nick, I promise. I have to go now. Don't ever forget me!! I love you!" I said tearfully. "I love you too."

And with that I went next door, to my house and got into the car. "This is all your fault, you know! So stop your crying!" my mom shouted. I didn't say anything back because for the past few months it was, talk back and get a slap. I just nodded and looked down. I felt something in my pocket. I took it out, looked at it and started sobbing all over again.
