Hang On To It Chapter 10

written by: Vonnie

Kevin and Howie drove all the girls except me, Katie, and BJ to their hotel. The rest of us decided to go outside since it felt pretty nice, not too cold, not to hot. The wind was lightly blowing and we could hear the waves from my backyard.

"So," said BJ, breaking the awkward silence.

"So," mimicked AJ.

"Do you guys wanna wait for Kevin and Howie here? We'll wait at the beach, is that alright?" asked Katie.

"Umm," started Nick.

"Yeah! Sure...," said Brian.

"What are you three gonna do? Play truth-or-dare?" teased AJ. I smiled at him and started to walk out of the front yard.

"Maybe, maybe not." Me and BJ stood at the gate which seperates the back yard with the front yard, waiting for Katie. Katie kissed Nick lightly on the lips and ran towards us. When she reached us, me and BJ started snickering as we closed the hatch.

Nick, AJ, and Brian sat down at the picnic table under the big maple tree in Nicole's front yard. It was dark and the street light was dim so the boys could barely see their hands. Nick felt something crawling over his fingers and he jumped up shaking his arm and screaming.

"AGH!!! What is that! GET OFF OF ME!"

"Chill, Kaos!" laughed AJ. "It's just a bug!"

"That wasn't a bad idea, Bone," said Brian, deep in thought. Nick sat down and him and AJ both stared at Brian.

"What was?"

"That truth-or-dare thing," he answered.

"HUH?" Brian started chuckling. "What the hell are you up to, Rok?"

"I'll tell you when D and Kev get back."

"I wonder what the boys are talking about," sighed Katie. "Yeah....," I started to say. "KATIE!" She jumped up and stared at me.

"What?"

"We said we WON'T talk about the guys, remember?" She covered her mouth and blushed.

"I'm sorry, but I don't really feel comfortable when Nick's alone with the guys, especially Brian and AJ. I don't trust them. They make him do stuff that could get them into trouble." I laughed.

"It's true," agree BJ. "They may be the Backstreet Boys, but they can't get away from the law if they break them."

I whistled. "Whoa, are they THAT bad?"

"No, not at all. But I'm afraid they will be if they continue...."

Finally, Howie and Kevin drove up the driveway and walked towards the three guys who were impatiently waiting.

"Dang, what took you guys so long?!" demanded AJ.

"Just bite our heads off, why doncha!" replied Howie.

"What's with the impatience, guys?" asked Kevin, suspiciously.

"Brian promised to tell us something when you guys came back. So, Frick, you gonna tell us or not?" asked Nick. Brian grinned in the dark.

"We haven't done anything daring in a while, have we?"

"Daring? Like what?"

"Like, REALLY daring. Something that could make our hearts break in two, something that we could regret for the rest of our lives."

AJ stared at him with wide eyes. "If that's the kind of daring you're talking about, we've never been daring."

"Yeah, it's time to find out what kind of MEN we are."

"Brian, you're scaring me," Howie nervously laughed. Brian leaned closer to the center of the table and the other guys did too.

"I wanna make a bet...."
