"The Jeffersons" Episode Guide v1.0.0 Copyright (c) 1998, Tom Walsh (avs@netport.com) This guide may be reproduced in its entirety for noncommercial purposes only. The following is an episode guide for the sitcom "The Jeffersons." ********************************************************************* * NOTE: I do NOT have tapes of this show available for trade. * * Please post to the newsgroup alt.video.tape-trading for requests. * ********************************************************************* The text version is available at the AVIMall: http://www.avimall.com/entertain/JeffersonsThe.txt A pointer to this site is available at the Ultimate TV List: http://tvnet.com/UTVL/ Of course, there is a page at the Internet Movie Database: http://us.imdb.com/M/title-exact?%22Jeffersons,%20The%22%20(1975) ABOUT THE SHOW: "The Jeffersons" was one of the spinoffs from the wildly successful "All in the Family" and, in fact, lasted longer than its parent show (although shorter if you add AitF to "Archie Bunker's Place," which really was the same show). In early 1975, the popular George and Louise Jefferson got their own series; George made a final appearance on AitF at the end of the 1975 season to sell his old house on Hauser St. to Mike and Gloria Stivic. Unlike the social comedies that Norman Lear aired earlier in the '70s (AitF, "Maude," and "Good Times"), "The Jeffersons" was more of a straight ahead sitcom. Oh, George was every bit as bigoted as Archie Bunker -- he never approved of the Willises' mixed marriage -- and Louise was the moral center of the show, just as Edith Bunker was, but "The Jeffersons" was simply not AitF set in a black household. In season 4 (and before?) "The Jeffersons" was produced by T.A.T. Communications Company in association with NRW Productions. In season 6, this simply became a T.A.T. Communications Company production. In season 7, this changed to a T.A.T. Communications Company production, in association with Ragamuffin Productions. In season 9, this changed to an Embassy Television production, which it remained through the end of the run, season 11. The "Jeffersons" theme song, "Movin' on Up," is written and performed by Jeff Barry and Ja'net DuBois. Ja'net DuBois, of course, is better known as the neighbor, Willona, on "Good Times."
