I can’t really believe I’m doing this, but here I am. What’s the saying, "Never say never"? When Cyke told us we were to start carrying these diaries, I thought he was being ridiculous. We’re the X-Men, for christ’s sake, not reporters needing to put into record our thoughts at any given moment. Then again…
It’s been kind of calm in here. Of course, I should be grateful we came out of the hospital, I thought Dad would not be able to pull through. Just last week we came back home, and for a change, we have been able to talk.
Not much, mind you, but in the last few days, he and I have been getting closer than we were in the last ten years, since my powers manifested. Those were the days, before Onslaught, before the Dark Phoenix, before the White Queen. But then again, being just here for my Mom and Dad has been worth it.
Dad hasn’t been able to talk to me much, as I was saying, but the little we have been able to talk has really surprised me. I remember thinking he was a bigot, and when I asked him about it yesterday, he fell into tears. Said he wasn’t really a bigot, just VERY scared to have a mutant for a son. My God, why aren’t there support groups for parents of mutants? Then again, I can picture this: "my name is Mr Lensherr, and I’m the father of Magneto". Or Cyke, he would have a field day explaining Cable.
Of course I’ve also been able to practice my powers, a lot. I never thought I’d be able to freeze a living being, down to a molecular level, and then bring them back, none the worse for the wear. Good thing there have been some small mice around to practice with.
There have been some rumors around, about an international militia who has it in for mutants. If that happens, it might just come down to me to save the day.
- - - Dad is stirring, and Mom is coming home from the groceries. As I was saying, it might come down to me having to save the day, and how glad I am to know I’ll be able to get by, with a little help from my folks.
