Paul and Hollace Davids made a series of Star Wars books. They are : The Glove of Darth Vader The Lost City of the Jedi Zorba the Hutt's Revenge Mission from Mount Yoda Queen of the Empire Prophets of the Dark Side These books are written for young readers, and contain sketches of scenes describes in the books. The sketches were created by Industrial Light and Magic. Each book is approximately 100 pages long. These books should be read as a series - what happens in one book depends on what happened in the books before it. Each book begins with a summary of what has gone before it. Since those summaries are the best way to show you, the reader, what happened in these books, they have been reproduced below for your reading pleasure. Cheers, --Jake Tringali ----------------------------------------------------------------------- THE GLOVE OF DARTH VADER After the deaths of the two evil Imperial leaders - Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine - a three-eyed tyrant who claimed to be the Emperor's son rose to lead the Empire. However, he was a liar and an imposter. His name was Trioculus. Trioculus was aided in his rise to power by the Central Committee of Grand Moffs, a group of sinister Imperial governors who spread terror, misery, and fear on many planets. Grand Moff Hissa had masterminded the secret plot to put Trioculus on the throne, as part of an even darker plot that would give the grand moffs more authority. However, Kadann, the Supreme Prophet of the Dark Side, foretold that the rightful heir to the Emperor's command would wear the glove of Darth Vader, a powerful and indestructible symbol of all evil. To strenghten his claim to be Emperor, and to unite the Imperial warlords who had been feuding among themselves, Trioculus embarked on a search for the glove. Despite Luke Skywalker's efforts to prevent Trioculus from ever finding the glove of Darth Vader, Trioculus recovered the prize on a mission to the ocean world of Calamari. There the Imperials and the Rebels survived a deadly undersea explosion, leaving their fates unknown to one another. Trioculus is now on a journey to see Kadann, to seek the Supreme Prophet's dark blessing and acceptance of his claim to be the rightful ruler of the Empire. Meanwhile, Luke has arrived in Cloud City on Rebel Alliance business, and he is now on his way to visit Han Solo before he returns to Alliance headquarters on the fourth moon of Yavin. Unknown to Luke, a strange dream is about to lead him on a mysterious quest - a search to find the legendary Lost City of the Jedi! NOTES: Each one of these books has a plot that deals with environmental issues. This book shows that when the Empire kills the Whaladons (a species similar to our whales) on Calamari, it hurts the ecology of the whole planet. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- THE LOST CITY OF THE JEDI Among those that followed the Dark Side were two evil Imperial leaders - Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine. After their deaths, a three-eyed mutant and tyrant rose to lead the Empire - Trioculus. However, he was an imposter who falsely claimed to be Emperor Palpatine's son. He was secretly in love with Princess Leia and hoped that one day he would persuade her to betray the Rebel Alliance and join the Empire as his queen. Trioculus was warned by Kadann, the Supreme Prophet of the Dark Side, that his reign as Emperor would come to a sudden and tragic end if he failed to find and destroy a certain Jedi Prince. The prince, Ken, was only twelve years old. He was raised by droids in the underground city known as the Lost City of the Jedi. It was there, in the Jedi Library, that Ken had learned certain Imperial secrets that, if revealed, could threaten Trioculus's rule. Trioculus was unable to find either Ken or the Lost City. However, Luke Skywalker was able to succeed where Trioculus had failed. Having located the Jedi Prince, Luke invited Ken to leave the underground city and join the Rebel Alliance. Though word of Jabba's death spread from planet to planet throughout the galaxy, the news never reached the dungeons of the mud-ball planet known as Kip. It was there on Kip that Zorba the Hutt had been imprisoned long ago for illegally mining precious gemstones. But within the first year after Jabba the Hutt's death, Kip was conquered by alien pirates, and Zorba was released from prison. The pygmy aliens of the mud-ball planet had never figured out how to fly Zorba's spaceship, the 'Zorba Express'. So the spaceship was still waiting for him, docked at the same muddy cliff where it had been left when Zorba was captured. He dug up his hidden supply of gemstones, and then climbed aboard his spaceship, setting his course for Tatooine. Zorba fully expected to find his son Jabba alive and well, happy to welcome his father back to his palace. But a shocking surprise awaited Zorba. The fury of a Hutt was about to be unleashed - a fury known as Zorba the Hutt's revenge! NOTES: The environmental issue studied here is shown when the Empire decides to burn down some forests on Yavin 4. When Trioculus becomes sick, he realizes that the medicine he needs is being burnt in the forest fire that he created. In one of the sketches, it shows Ken's room. He has (Kenner?) figures of an X-Wing, a TIE fighter, the 'Millenium Falcon', Darth Vader, a Mon Calamari, a Hutt, Yoda, Han Solo in carbonite, and Boba Fett. A sketch of Kadann's art room shows that he holds the golden head, some knives, a whip, and the Ark from the movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark". He also possesses Mandalorian armor, which is what Boba Fett wears. The password for the Jedi computer is JE-99-DI-88-FOR-00-CE. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ZORBA THE HUTT'S REVENGE The headquarters of the Alliance Senate are located in a cluster of ancient temples hidden within the rain forest on the fourth moon of Yavin. It was the Senate that now led the valiant fight to establish a new galactic government, and to restore freedom and justice to the galaxy. In pursuit of this quest, the Rebel Alliance leader, Mon Mothma, organized the Senate Planetary Intelligence Network, also known as SPIN. SPIN conducts its perilous missions with the help of Luke Skywalker and his pair of droids known as See-Threepio (C-3PO) and Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2). Other members of SPIN include the beuatiful Princess Leia; Han Solo, the dashing pilot of the spaceship 'Millenium Falcon'; Han's copilot, Chewbacca, a hairy alien Wookiee; and Lando Calrissian, the former governor of Cloud City on the planet Bespin. Lando Calrissian had been forced to abandon his post in Cloud City after gambling away his position to Zorba the Hutt, a sluglike alien who is the father of the deceased gangster, Jabba the Hutt. Having learned about his son's death at the hands of Princess Leia, Zorba now seeks revenge against Leia and the Rebel Alliance. Aided by the Force, Leia and her brother Luke, the last of the Jedi Knights, have managed to elude the wrath of the Hutt - at least for the time being. Guided by Force, and by the spirit of his first Jedi teacher, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker was led to the legendary Lost City of the Jedi. Deep underground on the fourth moon of Yavin, the Lost City proved to be the home of a boy named Ken, said to be a Jedi Prince. Ken had no human friends and had never before left the Lost City to journey above ground. He knew nothing of his origins and had been raised by a loyal group of caretaker droids who had served the ancient Jedi Knights. Ken has since left the underground city and joined Luke and the Rebel Alliance. With the Empire's evil leaders, Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, now destroyed, a new era has begin. Kadann, the Supreme Prophet of the Dark Side, foretold that a new Emperor would arise, and on his hand he would wear the indestructible symbol of evil - the glove of Darth Vader! The prophecy was fulfilled when three-eyed Trioculus, the former Supreme Slavelord of Kessel, recovered the glove. Upon taking command as leader of the Empire, Trioculus was warned by Kadann that he must first locate and destroy a certain Jedi Prince. The prince, Ken, had learned many dark and dangerous Imperial secrets from the droids of the Lost City. The information, if revealed, could threaten Trioculus's reign as Emperor, and brint it to a sudden and tragic end. Trioculus failed in his mission, running up against Zorba the Hutt instead. Zorba imprisoned Trioculus in carbonite. He is now frozen in suspended animation, displayed in the Cloud City Museum as a living statue. One of the more dangerous secrets known by Ken is that three-eyed Trioculus was an impostor who falsely claimed to be the son of Emperor Palpatine. Trioculus was aided in his rise to power by the grand moffs, in a plot they designed to share the rule of the Empire. The Emperor's real three-eyed son, Triclops, has been a prisoner in Imperial insane asylums for almost his entire life. For some mysterious reason the Empire fears him, still keeping him alive, while denying his very existence. Luke Skywalker and his ragtag group of Rebel freedom fighters battled armor-clad stormtroopers and mile-long star destroyers. They have even exploded two of the Empire's mightiest weapons: the Imperial Daeth Stars, which were as big as moons and powerful enough to explode entire planets. Now this band of Alliance heroes has fled Cloud City in the 'Millenium Falcon' and departed for one of the most scenic planets in the galaxy - Z'trop. There, they are taking in some much needed rest before returning to Alliance headquarters. Meanwhile, Kadann has summoned his loyal fellow Prophets of the Dark Side. They gather within his Chamber of Dark Visions in the cube-shaped Space Station Scardia, located somewhere deep in the Null Zone of space. Kadann's latest prophecies are about to bring forth a foreboding sense of doom for the Alliance, a threat that will give rise to a bold, new Alliance mission from a mountaintop on the planet Dagobah - a mission from Mount Yoda! NOTES: The environmental issue shown in this story is one of air pollution. Cloud City is located above an Imperial factory which discharges chemicals into the air. Eventually, Zorba wins Cloud City from Lando, gets mad at the Imperials, and destroys their factory. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION FROM MOUNT YODA (NOTE: For some stupid reason, I do not have Queen of the Empire. So instead of placing the preface to Queen of the Empire, I have to write the summary myself.) Our heroes have taken a vacation on the planet Z'trop when they find information showing that something may be happenning on Dagobah where the Rebels have placed a Research Department and Dagobah Tech, a school for Rebels. Luke and his friends take the 'Millenium Falcon' to Dagobah and landed near Mount Yoda, named after Luke's great teacher. Zorba the Hutt returns to Tattoine to see his son, Jabba. Just after he departed Cloud City, stormtroopers stole Zorba's prisoner and living statue, Trioculus, who was still frozen in carbonite. While Luke and Ken explore Dagobah, a Durese ship crashes from the sky. A Duro manages to climb out and faints. Later that night, the Duro alien tells the Rebels that the Empire has turned his planet into a waste dump, and his people are dying. Our heroes then go to Duro to save the planet. An inhabitant of Duro tells Luke Skywalker that Triclops is being held in an Imperial prison. When Luke asks who Triclops is, Ken, the Jedi Prince, reveals the Imperial secret. Triclops is really Emperor Palpatine's three-eyed son. An Imperial ship is on a mission to Duro because they have just learned that Triclops has escaped from prison. Sure enough, Triclops, who only seems to have two eyes, runs into Luke Skywalker and tells him that he despises the Empire, and that is why he has been put in prison. Han Solo soon arrives on Duro to save the Durese aliens and their art relics. Solo is given a wedding ring as a sign of gratitude. When the Imperials and the Rebels meet on Duro, a battle breaks out. Triclops reveals that his third eye is in the back of his head. He uses the hypnotic third eye to save the Jedi Prince Ken during the battle. The Rebels take the Durese and Triclops off the planet and return to Dagobah. NOTES: The environmental issue of this book is on hazardous waste. The Empire has been dumping waste on the planet Duro. At one point, giant mutated bugs attack our crew. Eventually, Grand Moff Hissa finds himself on Duro, and slips into some of the toxic chemicals. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- QUEEN OF THE EMPIRE While Trioculus and the grand moffs were feuding with Kadann, they also had a dispute with Zorba the Hutt. Trioculus eventually defeated Zorba by tossing the old Hutt into the Mouth of Sarlacc at the Great Pit of Carkoon on Tatooine, expecting to be rid of him at last. But Zorba survived when the Sarlacc spit him out, unable to digest the slimy Hutt's sluglike body. Having also captured Princess Leia, Trioculus turned her to the Dark Side, wanting to marry her and make her the Queen of the Empire. However, his plans were thrawted by a clever Aliance plan and a new Rebel weapon - the Human Replica Droid, which was a lifelike droid built to resemble the Princess. It fired lasers from its eyes, striking Trioculus in the chest and wounding him. Safely rescued from the Imperial Moffship, Princess Leia and Han Solo intend to resume their wedding plans, but not by eloping at Hologram Fun World as they attempted before. Instead, it will be a formal ceremony at the Alliance Senate. Everything should proceed according to plan - as long as they steer clear of the ruthless tyranny of Supreme Prophet Kadann and his Prophets of the Dark Side! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- PROPHETS OF THE DARK SIDE Triclops, the Emperor's son, has been spending time walking through the Alliance headquarters, but all the time he has been under surveillence. In a secret room, Leia and Luke monitor Triclops' journeys. They have learned that Triclops "sleepwalks" to rooms with secret data files, and then uses an Imperial implant in his brain to transmit the data. The Alliance notices more and more Imperial probe droids in their sector. Ken, the Jedi Prince, tells the Rebels that he has created an Omniprobe, which would stop such attacks, but the plans are located at his home in the Lost City of the Jedi. On their way to the Lost City, Ken tells Luke that he believes that he may be the son of Obi-Wan Kenobi, and that he had gotten his name from the great Jedi master. Zorba the Hutt finally meets with Kadann, the Supreme Prophet of the Dark Side. After a feast, a trial for four of the grand moffs begins. They have been charged with treason, and Zorba the Hutt tells the jury how treacherous these grand moffs have been. The medical doctors for the Alliance can remove Triclops' implant with the help of the macaab mushroom, found on the planet Azrid. Ken and Luke set off for the dry planet. They run into a creature's web, and become trapped. Stormtroopers happen upon them and take them as prisoners. Meanwhile, Triclops has been given the wrong location of the Lost City of the Jedi so that the Empire will be misled. When the prisoners reach Kadann, he tells them that Triclops is an Imperial spy. Kadann has sentenced Grand Moff Hissa to be the first in the expedition to the Lost City of the Jedi, but he follows the map that the Rebels made up, and falls into a pit of lava in the earth. Kadann tells Ken that he can tell him who Ken's father is, but only if Ken reveals the location of the Lost City of the Jedi. Ken tells Kadann the location, and the trip to Yavin 4 is quick. After Kadann activates the Jedi's ancient computer, Kadann tells Ken that he is named after his Jedi mother, Kendalina. He then reveals that Ken's father is - Triclops! Ken cries upon learning that his grandfather was Emperor Palpatine. Luke manages to escape from his prison, and steals one of Kadann's art treasures - the lightsaber that Luke once used to cut off Darth Vader's hand. As Luke rescues Ken, a stormtrooper accidentally destroys the Jedi computer, and the Lost City of the Jedi begins to lose power, just as Ken and Luke escape to the surface of the planet. Triclops escapes from the Imperial Senate before the macaab mushrooms can be delivered to him. But before he left, he wrote a letter to his son Ken, asking him to trust in the Force. Han and Leia has a glorious wedding in the same hall that they celebrated the destruction of the Death Star. Just before saying, "I do," Leia has a vision of the future. She envisioned Han and herself living in a house near Cloud City and she had their two children on her knee as Han told them stories about his adventures. NOTES: Chewbacca was Han's Best Man at the wedding. Artoo-Detoo and See-Threepio were his Best Droids. Also, during Leia's daydreaming about the future, she wonders if she will have twin children in the future. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
