Who Says There's No Justice In The World?
Whoever said that there is no justice in the world has been proven wrong. It's more like there's no lack of justice, Justice League that is. A few months back I touched base with this in "...AND JUSTICE FOR ALL." and the JLA franchise, like the Energizer Bunny, is still going...and going...and going! Even though it was supposed to be Titans Month, it seems that there's just as much doing with the JLA on a regular basis. Let's have a look...
WONDER WOMAN #140
Trinity (Part 1 of 2)
I don't usually read Wonder Woman, but the cover caught my eye. It was a combination of the odd usage of coloring and the fact the Batman and Superman were both on it as well. I just love stories with these two starring together (ooh, the tension!). Anyway, still unsure about purchasing it because, well, to be blunt, I really haven't read too many Wonder Woman stories. But, as I flipped through it I saw the rest of the JLA, a (new to me) villain who looked kind of cool, and a really cool artist rendition of the Bat-plane. Yep, the Bat-plane clinched it. Later, after I read it, I found myself entertained with the story. It was the best Wonder Woman issue I've read in a while, of course it's also the only one I read in a while so in that respect I guess it was also the worst. Just kidding! I liked the story enough to come back for part two of the Trinity storyline. I find the title disturbing though, "Trinity," with only a two part story. Also, the art wasn't that great, with the exception of the Bat-plane.
JLA VS. THE TITANS #2

I read #1. I'll always read big events in the DCU, even if they do suck. Not that this sucks. It has picked up a little in this issue. It's rating so far is about mediocre. The highlights here are where Bats and Nightwing are arguing while the JLA and the Titans are duking it out and Nightwing finds out that the JLA wasn't really doing battle but rather just following the Bats order/plan to sneak up on Vic/Cyborg/Cyberion Technis or what ever the hell he's going to end up being when this mess is over. Another notable mention is seeing Catwoman and Huntress fighting together on the same side, I think that's a comic first. Then there was Tempest blasting Aquaman and Aquaman letting him go. Looks like Tadpole might have an apology to make.
JLA EVEN IN THE SUBWAY
When I said that justice was everywhere, I meant it. Some of the Leaguers are "hanging" around at your local Subway. Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash, and Superman backpack toys were given away with the Kids Pak. My only problem is that there is no Subway near me. Where's the Justice?
WIZARD JLA SPECIAL EDITION
Wizard the leading magazine of gimmickry wouldn't miss a chance to cash in on this. Gimmicks always seem to catch my eye: I guess I'm just your average Joe in that respect. Hell, I even went to the KISS Psycho Circus concert recently. Talk about gimmicks, they've got to be the kings in that field. They had 3D glasses & a movie screen, fireworks, excess lighting, and whoops, I'm getting a little side-tracked here. Okay, I was about to lead up to the free "Making of Hourman" comic that accompanied this mag. The keyword here is �free,� like most comic book companies abusing its usage of the #1's, Wizard uses words like "free" and "Special Edition" on everything. I really liked DC's 1,000,000 mini series so I picked it up. Let me just say about this...I'm glad it was �free.� The highlight of the mag itself was learning where Grant Morrison is taking the future of the JLA. In here he stated that someone will die and the team will revert back to it's core seven members.
JLA #25
Over in their regular title, we find the JLA up against "the Ultra-Marines Corps." These four super-power people, who by now we all know are going to end up being some kind of heroes, are given the entire JLA an a$$ woopin'. I find it hard to believe that this new mini-team would make the JLA look like a bunch of rank amateurs. Some notable points of the story are the Flash lending Aquaman some of the Speed Force. Aquaman, while getting attacked, diving off of a high building into Flow. The reason that these points are notable to me is because I'm glad to see more usage of Aquaman in the JLA; most writers can't get a handle on him. In the Grant Morrison interview in the Wizard Special (mentioned above), Grant claims that he now understands Aquaman better. But as we see near the end, Grant still needs to understand this character, when on page #18 Aquaman practically begs Superman for a plan. That's not the way this hot-headed, avid planner, King of Atlantis would have acted. It was slightly out of context for him. Oh yeah, I can't forget to mention the return of the (now hairless) ShaggyMan. I wonder what they�re going to call him now that he looks like Bane.
Well, there you have it. Justice has been served!
