SEX AND THE CITY star Kristin Davis is having a hard time finding a new love since splitting from Homicide star Reed Diamond, say sources � because guys want her to be as loose and lusty as her TV character.
�����Davis, 35, plays art dealer Charlotte, one of four bed-hopping gals on the adults-only HBO series, but she is actually prim and proper.
�����"Kristin can't seem to find Mr. Right," says a source. "Many of the men she meets assume that because she's been sexually promiscuous on the show, she'll naturally be like that in real life, too.
�����"That's the curse of Sex and the City. Some guys think she'll hop into bed after the first date, but Kristin's not like that. She's very conservative and from a religious family."
�����Although the show brought Davis fame and fortune, insiders say it was partly to blame for the breakup of her romance with Diamond. She worked in New York while Diamond, 37, lives in LA.
�����As STAR has previously reported, the couple met at a party last spring and hit it off right away.
�����"They had a few great trips together, but the long-distance factor became too stressful for them," says the source. "They broke up a few weeks ago."
�����Ironically Davis' character Charlotte has split from her husband Trey, played by actor Kyle MacLachlan. Charlotte, like Davis, could soon be on the dating circuit again � although Charlotte's chances look better. "Kristin has been trying to meet new men and move on with her life, but it's just not happening," says a source.
�����"Each episode is loaded with cute young guys, so naturally the set is brimming with men," the source adds. "Some have even hit on Kristin, but they're not what she's looking for.
�����"Kristin wants a stable, marriage-bound man. In an ironic way, the show's made Kristin aware of all the sexual permissiveness out there. It's pushed her to want a more old-fashioned romance.
�����"She wants the courtship, she wants the ring. She wants to feel like more than a conquest. Finding it, though, isn't so easy."
