My comments on the October 19th episode of Melrose Place
Hi guys:

Anyone watch the Yankees spank the Padres Sunday night? Among the fans was Rob Estes. Seated next to him was Kelly Rutherford. His wife, Josie Bissett, was nowhere in sight. Do we have a Melrose-esque drama playing out in real life?

After leaving us hanging for three weeks, Lexi decided not to tell Amanda that Peter arranged the kidnapping. All that posturing by Lexi, then she clammed up. What a letdown!

Jane wanted to set a wedding date because she was worried that something would happen to interfere with the marriage. So if something happened after they were married, it would be okay?

In their bedroom, Kyle and Amanda talked about moving out of The Place and about the missing page from Matt's journal. They had some hideous looking sheets on their bed. Bring back the leopard skin.

Megan finally agreed to have dinner with Ryan. But she didn't consider it a date. If he thinks it's a date, and she knows he thinks it's a date, then it's a date.

Megan invited Lexi to join them at dinner at a restaurant that surprisingly wasn't Kyle's. If Lexi weren't so hot, I'd have been upset. But since I didn't invite her, I'd make her pay for her meal.

After auditioning for Kyle and being rejected, a singer, Eve, ran out of the Jazz Club and got hit by a car. I hate when that happens. Peter rushed to her assistance screamed to the driver of the car to get him a phone. At that moment, he probably regretted smashing his cell phone in the cabin Amanda was held captive in.

Anyway, Eve was taken to Wilshire Memorial, the only hospital in LA, where she was treated by Peter, one of the only two doctors remaining in LA after Coop left.

Lexi and Megan must not have liked the restaurant they dined at with Ryan because they were back at Kyle's. Lexi ordered a vodka martini and Amanda brought over a bottle of champagne to welcome Lexi to the world of advertising. The last time I mixed vodka and champagne, I upchucked big time.

As part of Michael's twisted ploy to catch Jane and Alex in the sack, Michael pretended to go to a medical conference. He spied on Alex sizing a shirtless Jane for her wedding dress and assumed they were having some sort of kinky sex involving a tape measure.

Kyle lured Peter to the Jazz Club by sending him a note and signing it "Amanda." Peter didn't recognize that it was not Amanda's handwriting. Anyway, they proceeded with a strange drinking game where they would insult the other person, then do a shot. Looked like fun.

Hiding out in his office, Michael overheard Jane tell Peter that she regretted her youthful indescretion with Alex and how she wanted to make it work with Michael. Michael, the ignorant slut that he is, didn't believe it.

Amanda accused Ryan of revealing her client list to Megan. Um, client lists are public information. They are listed in the Standard Directory of Advertising Agencies, commonly known in the ad business as the Red Book. But Amanda felt that she didn't trust Ryan because he won't stop seeing Megan, so she fired him.

So Ryan approached Lexi for a job. She said she didn't need him because she's already got someone on the inside of AWA. But Ryan was armed with marketing plans for Amanda's clients and was hired.

Michael followed Jane to Alex's house where she told him she suspected Michael of carrying on with Megan. Why couldn't she have gone to Amanda or someone else about her suspicions? And why didn't she pull a Michael and follow Megan around to confirm her apprehension?

Turned out Ryan didn't really want to work for Lexi. He just wanted to find out who the spy was. It was Amanda's assistant, Julie. Ryan told Amanda, Julie was fired and Ryan was rehired. Now why would Ryan want to help Amanda and work for her again after she dissed him so badly?

Lexi showed up at AWA and cursed out Ryan for giving her 10-year old marketing plans. How'd she know he was there?

The line of the week goes to Amanda. When Lexi told Amanda that employees are more trustworthy if you treat them with an ounce of respect, Amanda quipped, "Well, if you had an ounce of respect in you, it would die of loneliness." An equally good line was Lexi's retort: "If I need some advice on loneliness, I'll be sure to call you." Meow, meow. Talk about catty.

Megan began to warm up to Ryan. She told him that she used to be a hooker. He seemed okay with it. I would have asked, "Does that mean I'm gonna have to pay for it?"

After fighting about Peter and the missing journal page, Amanda swore that she didn't know anything about the page and that she had no secrets about Peter or anyone. Liar, liar pants on fire. She made Kyle promise never to bring up the subject again and they kissed and made up. But we all know he will be bringing it up again.

Eve finished singing a horrific folk ballad at the Jazz Club and went to talk to Amanda. Amanda admitted to her that she flat out lied to Kyle about the secret they have with each other.

Tune in next week to learn more about their secret.

Of course, the spoiler for next week's episode is posted on my site.

Also new there are several Melrose-related stories from Soap Opera Update.

First up was a story about how Brooke Langton understood that her role of Samantha had run out. Aaron Spelling appreciated her honest comments and sent her flowers. Upon receiving the flowers, she called him to thank him. "Thanks for the flowers. It really makes up for being fired."

In December, Andrew Shue will present awards for the "Do Right" organization he founded in 1993. I don't think he'll be receiving any flowers from Aaron.

Then there was an item which stated how Melrose might have began the primetime-TV sexual revolution. I tend to believe the revolution started earlier. With "Happy Days."

And Jamie Luner was interviewed by Gear magazine. The only thing I remember about the article are the pictures. She appeared mostly naked. Yowza!

Heather Locklear spoke to Complete Woman about the three ems. Marriage, Melrose and making babies. She also said she wants to do comedy after Melrose is over.

Jane Mancini was listed as one of 10 psychos on the loose by Soap Opera Digest. Jane running rampant. I'm scared!

'Til next week...
