My comments on the May 17th episode of The Place
Hi guys:

Thanks to everyone who wrote to me to tell me that it was indeed Heather in that Nike commercial. And thanks to Lu in Atlanta for correcting me when I misidentified Greg Maddux as Mike Remlinger. What do I know? I'm a Yankee fan. Lu also knew immediately that Heather's companion in the commercial wasn't Rena Sofer because her nipples weren't showing. I'm dismayed I didn't make this observation. I must be slipping.

On to this week's action-packed episode...

Tony died in Lexi's bed. If you ask me, it's not a bad way to go. For some reason, Lexi thought the police would believe she forged the contracts Tony signed if they found him there. So Lexi convinced Michael to help her put his clothes back on and take him home. They should have put sunglasses on him. Maybe no one would notice he was dead, like Weekend at Bernie's.

While dragging the corpse through the courtyard, they saw Eve throwing Peter's belongings into the pool. To distract Eve while Michael removed the body in the handy shopping cart that just so happened to be lying around, Lexi helped Eve chuck Peter's stuff. She must have forgotten that she now owns The Place and will have to hire someone to remove the stuff from the pool.

At Tony's house, Lexi and Michael posed the body so it would look like he expired while signing the contracts. Lexi discovered a dossier on Tony's desk revealing he's been investigating her, Amanda and Eve. Just then, Michael realized how Lexi could pay him back for helping her. He dropped down on one knee, and with dead Tony between them, asked her to marry him. How romantic.

Eve and Peter met with their lawyers to discuss the divorce. Eve was very uncivil. Peter asked, "Can't we stop hurting each other?" Wasn't that a Carpenter's song?

After the meeting, Eve saw Amanda and Peter hug and she had a flashback to her trial 15 years ago. She saw Amanda, looking exactly as she does today, hugging some Kent's dad.

Lexi went to see Dr. Visconti. She told him Tony's wife would honor the contracts that he had signed. I would think that the successor in the corporation would determine that and not the wife. It didn't seem to me that Mrs. Marlin was the business type.

During the session, Lexi told Visconti she had apprehensions about marrying Michael. She thought Coop was her ideal man, then it was Peter, then it was Ryan, then it was Michael. So Visconti tells her to visualize her true love and it turned out to be Peter.

Just then, Peter walked in. Lexi walked out. Peter told Visconti that Eve was having problems with the divorce. Which led to the line of the week. Visconti said, "Without your love life, I'd be out of business." Peter then asked Visconti to stealthily counsel Eve.

Eve, with her nipples showing, was working at the Jazz Club. Since Kyle made her a partner, then signed over his share to Amanda when they split up, that would mean that Eve was now in business with her worst enemy. That's a fact that I'm sure everyone, including the writers, overlooked. Anyway, Visconti convinced her to have a session with him.

Terri spilled her guts and told Ryan she loved him. Ryan said he loved her, too. But like a sister. Doh! That's worse then saying you love someone like a friend. With a friend, there's still a chance. With a sister, it's plain disgusting.

Terri dropped her robe and kissed Ryan. Just then, Megan walked in. Ryan said it was not what it looked like. Looked to me like he was kissing a naked woman. And it looked to me that Megan was turned on. Her nipples were showing. But she was not amused. She told Ryan their wedding was off.

The next morning, Terri explained to Megan that Ryan was not interested in her and really loved Megan. She then said she would go back to her life in New York. If you could call living in Poughkeepsie a life.

Megan tracked down Ryan at the only restaurant in LA where he was having lunch with a prospective employer. Megan apologized and said the wedding was back on. Ryan also got the job. Quite a productive lunch.

Visconti went to see Peter in his office but found Amanda there instead. It was Amanda he really wanted to talk with anyway so it was fortuitous that she was there. He asked her about Kent's death. She said, "Kent tried to rape me. Eve pushed him off the bleachers. I ran home." Which was verbatim how Eve described the scene to him. Visconti's interest was piqued.

Lexi showed Eve the file Tony had on the murder. Eve had another flashback. She saw Amanda telling her Kent tried to rape her, he was thrown off the bleachers, then she ran home. Um, if she ran home, how was she still there under the bleachers telling Eve this?

Eve then recalled rolling Kent's body into the trench and a shadowy figure lurking about.

Peter told Amanda that he would be generous to Eve in the divorce. There was no need to. California law would take care of that. Eve gets half of his stuff. Which is fair since she engineered the land deal which netted them millions.

Eve arrived and saw Peter and Amanda screwing. She had another flashback. She saw Amanda and Kent going at it in his car. Boy, Eve certainly has a lot of repressed memories.

Jane took a pregnancy test a found out she was preggers. It's only been a few days since she's been with Kyle and she's already able to tell she's pregnant? Maybe it's that artist guy's baby. But then again, it's only been a few days since she slept with him. And what ever happened to safe sex?

In their next session, Visconti hypnotized Eve so that she could remember the bleacher incident. Michael and Lexi spied on the session with a trick Michael learned from Nurse Audrey, the old video camera in the book trick.

With her nipples threatening to burst through her dress, Eve realized the phantom menace lurking about the trench was Amanda.

Lexi admitted that she still wanted Peter. Once again, she broke a promise to Michael. Lying slut.

Peter offered Amanda a job at Wilshire Memorial as PR Director. She's got to work somewhere. There's no more AWA, she can't work at the club because of Eve and Burns/Mancini seems to have vanished into oblivion. So Wilshire Memorial was the only viable option.

Peter told her to think about the perks. I assume they would be medical, dental and horizontal.

Back at The Place, Peter and Amanda dropped off a wedding present to Megan and Ryan. Peter went to look in on Eve, who was livin' la vida loca by cutting Amanda's picture from her yearbook.

Then Lexi went to look in on Eve and found her in a catatonic state in her cheerleader outfit. I sensed another good opportunity for a lesbian love scene when Lexi said she would comfort her and they stroked each others hair. This led to another good line. Lexi said, "There'll always be another pep rally."

Maybe they did and maybe they didn't, but the morning after had Lexi telling Eve that Dr. Visconti's hypnosis was making matters worse. I must not have been paying attention when Lexi went off and got her psychiatric degree. She suggested that Eve return to Oakhurst to help her remember.

So when Eve missed her next session, Visconti told Peter about Amanda being at the trench. So much for doctor-patient confidentiality.

At Ryan and Megan's wedding ceremony, they tried to hide Josie Bissett's real-life pregnancy by having her hold a bouquet of flowers over her tummy. But they couldn't hide her once-bony fat ass.

Peter asked Amanda about the murder. Amanda was evasive. Once again, she spouted her mantra. "Kent tried to rape me. Eve pushed him off the bleachers. I ran home."

At the bleachers, Eve told Lexi that Amanda met with Kent to tell him they were through. How would she know why they met? But she then recalled Kent was still alive in the trench and Amanda finished him off with a rock.

So does this mean the attempted rape didn't really happen and that Amanda used The Force to plant the thought into Eve's weak mind. And if Eve is susceptible to suggestion, I hope she will listen to this: "You will be my love slave. You will be my love slave. You will be my love slave..."

You would think that the coroner's report would have found that his injuries were caused by more than a fall.

Just as they were about to drive off on their honeymoon, Ryan and Megan saw Terri give in to the dark side and forced Sarah into her car and kidnap her. Ryan gave chase. Which resulted in Terri crashing into a utility pole. Could this be deja vu all over again for Ryan? If the car were to burst into flames, who should he save first?

Tune in next week for the answer to this and many other questions in the last episode ever, "Asses to Ashes."
