Executing Your Organization
(By Angela, PAVE Founder)
For each monthly meeting, be sure to advertise via flyers and chalking. Check specific rules on campus regarding these things.
Meetings:
- Introductions: If it's large group, then introduce yourself and the heads of various projects. If it's a small group, go around the room having people introduce themselves.
- Current Events and Projects: Talk about current issues around campus or your area that are relevant to your group. Have each of the heads of the various projects or committees discuss what the plans/progress are and how to get involved. On the first official meeting, have a way for people to sign up for the areas or projects that interest them most. I suggest either a poster board for each one with lines drawn for names, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses or interest cards that will be collected.
- Honor a Sexual Violence Survivor: PAVE honors one survivor per month in our monthly mail-out. I announce just her first name and briefly describe what she went through. We invite her up, give her flowers, and allow her to speak for a few minutes if she chooses to. For the flowers, see about getting flowers donated by local florists. NOTE: Be sure to get her permission before using her name or story.
- Explore One Topic per Month
: We choose one topic per month to focus on to spread awareness and educate people on various facets of sexual violence. Try to find a guest speaker, interactive activities, or video clips. Go to
Agenda for topic ideas.
