Bill's Book Barn

Our Heritage

We should each be aware of our heritage. It seems we each choose a different path in doing this, but, one thing we should all do as a starting point is to examine our personal family history. To get you start, check out this forthcoming book.

This area will examine a number of books that I have found useful in my search for my own family history, and, will contain links to some the results of that search, for anyone who might be interested in seeing some of what I have found, to date.

The Kinnicks and Daniel Boone

The Kinnicks and Daniel Boone

I just finished reading a novel by Cameron Judd about the Life and Times of Daniel Boone of the Yadkin Valley of North Carolina. It seems to be based on authentic research of the area and times, because I have read several others books that I know to be, and, there were no glaring differences. Daniel and most of his family, including the Bryans, his wife, Rebecca's people, left the Yadkin Valley in September 1779.

PERSONAL NOTE: The Kinnicks (John and Ann) and family, moved from Maryland to the Yadkin Valley of North Carolina in 1795, about sixteen years after the Boones left. They were among the settlers who followed the pioneers. They made their home about five miles southeast of the cabin where Daniel and Rebecca Boone had lived those few years earlier.
