Beulah The Fox Hound

I ain't sure if'n I believe this story. |

There was this ol' fox dog I had years ago, Beulah was her name, fine dog she was. Took her over to Grampa's one day to watch him tear down the old corn crib. After he pushed it over ol' Beulah got to sniffin' around there & went plum crazy. Grampa said "whats wrong with that dog"? I looked around & saw an old fox track that had been there since before the crib was built which was a long time ago. I said she's latched on to that fox scent. No way he said, that track's gotta be thirty year old. Well ol' Beulah didn't care, she struck out across the field, made a few circles & was gone. Didn't see no more of her for weeks so I figured she was lost for good. About 8 months later, a man called me from New York City, said "I think I've got your dog here, got your name & number off'n the collar". He said he ran a second hand store & ol' Beulah had a "Fox Stole" treed back in the warehouse. Well, I figured any dog that could track like that was worth spending a little money on so I asked him what it would cost to put her on a bus & send her back to Indiana. He said probably about $250. I then asked the price of the fox stole & he said he'd take $50 for it. After some serious "siphering" I told him just to mail me that fox hide COD, & ol' Beulah would find her own way home!
