Bubblers

Qualification: No top 40 entry in this or any previous month.
Posn SINGLE - act album peak

1 SPECIAL KIND OF SOMETHING - Kavana   23-1
2 SUBSTITUTE FOR LOVE - Madonna Frozen 17-2
3 GOD IS A DJ - Faithless   17-2
4 IRIS - Goo Goo Dolls City of Angels OST 45-0
5 MY FAVOURITE MISTAKE - Sheryl Crow   16-2
6 I WASN'T BUILT TO GET UP - Supernaturals   25-2
7 ADIA - Sarah MacLachlan Fumbling Towards Ecstacy 52-0
8 BEING A GIRL - Mansun   23-1
9 SOMETIMES - Tintinout Sometimes 22-1
10 MAKE IT HOT - Nicole Hit 'em Wit d' Hee 39-1

Late month releases from Madonna, Faithless, Crow and Tintinout join the usual minor hit fodder. Notable are the presence of the Goo Goo Dolls, entering the monthly survey without selling at all well, and Sarah MacLachlan - her single's not out till mid-September. And there's no shifting the Supernaturals, #6 for the second straight month.

Recurrent Hits

Qualification: Entry in at least two monthly Top 40s but not this month's.

9 FEEL IT - Tamperer   5/98 - #1
10 YOU'RE THE ONE THAT I WANT - John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John Grease OST 5/78 - #1

Yet again, Shania and the All Saints "Never Ever" stick around; again, the latter title heads back up the listings. It's joined by the Saints more recent release, and two massive hits from Natalie Umbrella.

Personal Airplay

The ten records I've heard most this month...
Pos SINGLE act heard
1 VIVA FOREVER Spice Girls 40
2 WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE YOU LOVE ME Coors 35
3 SAVE TONIGHT Eagle-Eye Cherry 33
GHETTO SUPERSTAR Pras Michel, ODB, Mya
5 THE BOY IS MINE Brandy and Monica 28
6 "LOST IN SPACE" THEME Apollo 440 24
7 TO THE MOON AND BACK Savage Garden 23
8 EVERYTHING'S GONNA BE ALRIGHT Sweetbox 18
COME WITH ME Puff Daddy & Jimmy Page
REAL GOOD TIME Alda

Well, the Spices hit the top with exactly double their score last month. The top two are now jointly number 3. Two extra plays for Brandy and Monica still costs them a place. And there are a couple of film themes, and acts from Australia and Iceland in there to boot.
