Bubblers

Qualification: No top 40 entry in this or any previous month.
Posn SINGLE - act album peak
-wks
1 I GET LONELY - Janet Jackson The Velvet Rope 11-2
2 FATHER - LL Cool J   29-3
3 ALL I WANT IS YOU - 911 The Journey 15-2
4 IF YOU WANT ME - Hinda Hicks   26-3
5 BREATHE - Kylie Minouge Impossible Princess 24-2
6 WEIRD - Hanson Middle of Nowhere 27-1
7 SHE LEFT ME ON FRIDAY - Shed Seven   23-2
8 THIS IS HARDCORE - Pulp This is Hardcore 25-1
9 DESTINY CALLING - James The Greatest Hits 30-1
10 HOLLER - Ginuwine   27-1

New ones from Janet Jackson and 911 fall just short, while Kylie Minogue's hit making touch seems to have left her. Note also the poor performances of teen faves Hanson, and Pulp, whose single preceeded the album.

Recurrent Hits

Qualification: Entry in at least two monthly Top 40s but not this month's.
Posn SINGLE - act album Debut
- peak
1 TOO MUCH - Spice Girls Spiceworld 12/97 - #1
2 ALL AROUND THE WORLD - Oasis Be Here Now 1/98 - #2
3 AS LONG AS YOU LOVE ME - Backstreet Boys Backstreet's Back! 11/97 - #3
4 AMNESIA - Chumbawumba Tubthumper 1/98 - #9

8 FASTLOVE - George Michael Older 4/96 - #1
9 MISSING - Everything But the Girl Amplified Heart 11/95 - #3
10 BABY CAN I HOLD YOU TONIGHT Boyzone 11/97 - #2

The Spices hold at the top here for the second month, and have a main chart entry, as do the Backstreets. Verve have had two hits since "Bittersweet", which is picking up points based on its return to airplay lists. Chumbawumba show the strength of both their hits, while archive material from George Michael and Everything But the Girl shows its enduring powers.
