Alarming moment at work. Speak to caller, have to ring off when someone comes to the door. Colleague picks up the phone, gets very confused when caller asks for a lady with a deep voice. Now, I may not be the deepest bass in the world, but that sort of confusion is a bit much.

Peter Andre, flavour of the year for nine months during 1996, has been dropped by Mushroom Records. Andre, who had two number one hits with "Natural" and "I Feel You," but best known for the Real Hit "Mysterious Girl," had failed come-backs in 1997 and 1998. Silent since, Mushroom has come to the conclusion that it would be "too expensive" to relaunch Andre and his rock-hard abdomen. The new album is up for sale to the highest bidder. I'd like to start the bidding at 5p.
George Carman QC, one of the country's leading barristers, has died aged 71 after a battle against cancer. Son Dominic Carman said his father "was a small man but with his stage as a courtroom and his audience as the jury he was a giant among men."
Carman had a reputation for a fearsome intellect and his cross-examination helped destroy the reputation of former Tory MP Neil Hamilton, who lost his libel action against Harrods owner Mohamed Fayed last December. He also helped destroy the reputation of another Tory, Jonathan Aitken, who was eventually jailed for perjuring himself when Mr Carman forced him on to his own sword of truth. Mr Carman represented The Guardian against Aitken two years ago. He also successfully represented Richard Branson against the boss of G-Tech, Guy Snowden, whom Branson accused of trying to bribe him.
One person was killed today and another seriously injured when a cliff on the North Wales coastline collapsed, sending two cars plunging over the edge. A woman was confirmed dead on arrival at the lifeboat base in Porth Dinllaen. She was in one of two cars which plunged 40 feet over the cliff edge when the mudslide happened shortly after 11am.
A man was freed from a car and flown to hospital in Bangor with severe injuries caused by crushing. His condition was said not to be life-threatening. Nobody else was thought to have been injured.
Captain of the RAF rescue helicopter, Flight Lieutenant John Stanley: "When we arrived at the scene there were people from all the rescue services and police, digging to see if there were any people in the cars or in the mudslide. Firemen were cutting their way into a car on the beach and the casualty inside was placed on a spinal board before he was lifted on a stretcher into the aircraft. When we returned after delivering our casualty to hospital, the tide was lapping around rescuers who were still carrying out searches."
"You've got to have breasts to be successful." Doctors condemn a mother's plan to give her daughter (right) breast implants as a 16th birthday present. Kay Franklin will pay �5,000 for daughter Jenna to have her breasts surgically enlarged for her birthday this August, saying the operation will improve the girl's quality of life. "I want Jenna to feel confident about the way she looks and if that means having breast implants or having her teeth done or anything else she needs to do, I will support her."
