Weaver's Web

Credits for the information

First credit goes to Geocities, the mob holding my chunk of web space. They have adverts, they have a highly bizarre scheme of themed home pages that assumes people will only be writing on one topic that fits into a simple pigeon-hole, but they do have a nifty file transfer utility that zaps FTP on its head.

If you're seeing these pages in colour, you'll notice that each set of pages has its own background colour. This is a design tip I first saw on Richard Lloyd's UK National Lottery site. This place debuted in November 1994, at the same time as the gamble it reports on. Since then, the site has grown and expanded to be the most comprehensive and trustworthy lottery resource in the world.

The table format in Spinning News is broadly based on Andrew Wiseman's TV room. More details in the links section. The name "Spinning News" is a tribute to SLATE magazine's section "The Week / The Spin".

Also, a few words on the ethos behind this site. I'm aiming to provide three main areas of information: on Codsall, the British music charts, and an archive of my MSCList posts.

I aim my text to be accessible to anyone, using any browser. A future update of this site will use frames, but I will ensure all pages can be accessed in a non-frames browser. If you want a small, compact frame-enabled browser, let me recommend NeoPlanet's browser. It's still in beta, but occupies just 1.5Mb when installed.

Privacy is an important issue, but so is the free flow of information. If you write to me about the contents of this web site, I reserve the right to quote part or all of your e-mail on this site unless you request otherwise. However, I will not publish your e-mail address unless you explicitly request me to. To contact me, do not use this link. Instead, mail me on [email protected]. The other link (the one you shouldn't use) is a pointer to an indefinite loop of web pages. I've put it in to confuse programs that surf the web in order to find e-mail addresses to spam. Further details on this concept from E-Scrub.
