North Carolina's Blizzard !!!

On Tuesday morning, January 25, 2000, we awakened to a real winter wonderland. Following are some pics we took of the first sizable snowfall in our area in many years. With areas recording up to 30" of snow, it was an unbelievable site. According to local meteorlogists, we had not recorded a snow of this magnitute in over 100 years. I know I've never seen anything like it!!

Here is a picture taken from my carport.

Here are the girls wading through the snow. This was the third day after the snowfall. The sun had finally came out, but didn't seem to be melting the snow like it normally does here.

This is the view of our side yard. The wall under the snow is normally about 5 feet tall in the middle.

We now have a yard full of fallen trees from the weight of the snow.

Underneath all that snow is a truck. Several trees threatened to fall on it before the snow melted. Luckily, none did.

After all this snow, we were then blessed with an ice storm. By that time, we had been without power for so long, taking pictures was not even on our minds. I found my days of being a pioneer no fun at all, and hope not to repeat them anytime soon!!!

Hope you enjoyed seeing our snow!
