In the name of God Amen I Samuel Newman of the County of Washington

 

and State of Georgia being very sick and weak but of perfect mind and

 

memory thanks be to God calling unto mind the mortality of my body and

 

knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this

 

my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and

 

recommend my soul to the hands of the almighty God that gave it and my

 

body I recommend to the to be buried in a decent christen burial at the

 

discretion of my executors Nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection

 

I shall Receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching

 

such worldly estate Where with it has pleased God to bless me within this

 

life I Give Demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and

 

from first of all I give and Bequeath to my oldest daughter Ann Looper got

 

her portion at her marriage and my son Walter Newman I give forty three

 

acres of land and ninety acres out of my old tract of land after paying fifty

 

pounds to be paid in good trade out of which that I give ten pounds to my

 

daughter Mary Newman I give twenty shillings to my son John Newman out

 

of the same land I give and bequeath one hundred acres of land to my son

 

William Newman out of my old tract . I give to my daughter Zelpha ten

 

pounds after being of age I give my son Lemual Newman two hundred acres

 

of land Lying in Burk County, I give and Bequeath to my Son Jonathan

 

Newman two hundred Acres of land in Burk County, and give to my son

 

William Newman Three cows ________ Calves and two two-year old ______

 

And also give to my son William Newman the black mare and all my

 

farming utensils and William Newman has the whole stock of horses cows

 

and hogs until the children become of age and then the cow and calves to be

 

divided between Elizabeth Newman and Margaret equally when they come

 

of age and sheep to the use of the small children and as for the use of my

 

household furniture leave to my children that is least or youngest and also I

 

desire my son Walter to make titles or a deed to a certain tract of land lying

 

on Stephensons Creek to Thomas M. Dowd and give forty shillings for the

 

discharging the said land. I also give to my grandson Calson Newman forty

 

shillings out of the hand of Walter Newman. I also give ten pounds to

 

Elizabeth Newman; and also I give ten pounds to my daughter Margaret

 

Newman when of age. I leave my son William Newman to be my attorney

 

at law for me as I myself were personally present. Signed, sealed, and
