YATES, J. Garland age 83 of Belfast, Va died early Monday evening in a Bristol, Va hospital. He was the son of the late John and Emma Yates and a retired farmer and a former Dickenson County resident. HESS, Tobe age 101 of Stephenson died Friday at home after a long illness. Born Feb 15 1877 in Russell Co, Va, he was the son of the late John Hess. A resident of Stephenson for 45 years, Mr. Hess was a member of the Baptist Church and was a retired coal miner. Surviors include 3 daughters: Flossie Gree and Beatrice Martin both o f Arkansas and Agnes Rooke of Kansas; 3 sons: Tencil Hess and Martin Hess both of Stephenson and Nathan Hess of Indian Gap, Va, 85 grandchildren, 53 ggrandchildren and 38 gggrandchildren. Graveside services will be held Tueday at 2:30, in the Fletcher Ridge Cemetery in Buckhannon, Virginia. Taken from local paper.
