The "Berceau de Kamouraska" is located at the east of the village, approximately 3 kilometers from the church, on the southern side along the main road.  On a nice wrought iron grating, one finds the mention:
 
 

It is there that were set up the first two churches and presbyteries of Kamouraska.  This site will have also the distinguished privilege to be the religious centre of Kamouraska and of all the eastern region.  It is also there that rest more than  1 300 pioneers.  A memory-chapel erected in 1959, at the time of the 250th anniversary of the parish, tempts to meditation ...
 
 

Many quebecer families may associate this place with their origins.  The first inhabitants of Kamouraska are for the majority  descendants at the second or third generation from Québec and l'Île d'Orléans.  Here are some of the first settlers:

  On July 2, 1989, a historical commemoration to perpetuate the memory of our ancestors Pierre and Marie was made.  Indeed, at the time of this great Michaud gathering, the Association of the Michaud Families unveiled a commemorative plaque to their memory.  It is anchored on a wall of the chapel.
 
 

This plaque honours Michauds in America.  A similar plaque, affixed at the back of the church of Fontenay-le-Comte, was given by the Association of the Michaud Families in September 1990.
 
 

  The Commission de toponymie du Québec, during its meeting on March 29, 1989, officialized the toponym
 

so as to designate the bridge over the Kamouraska river on highway 132, in the so-called municipality. Pierre Micheau (1637-1702) settled at Kamouraska after having seen himself conceded a land of 12 arpents by the seigneur Charles Aubert de la Chesnaye.  Several of his descendants are today rallied in the Association of the Michaud Families.  The bridge was officially unveiled on July 2, 1989.
 
 

  On July 1st, 1990, at the Berceau de Kamouraska, the Association of the Michaud Families also proceed to the unveiling of a monument to memory of our ancestor Pierre Micheau, his wife Marie Ancelin and their 10 children.  Designed by Rosaire Michaud, it is a creation of Lucien Michaud, artist living at Saint-Germain-de-Kamouraska.
 
 

To create this monument, the designer based himself on the three fundamental principles on which a family is based : authority, respect and unity.  The monument of pyramidal shape consists of 3 superimposed blocks which expresses the strength.  They are well integrated by their respective form.
