SOUTHERN BULLOCKS

If you have any records of Bullock families who lived in New Jersey, please send them to me, Ginny Deagan and I will post them on this page. Many of the midwest Bullock families came through New York State. Also, if you have more information on the posted items, please forward them on to me so they can be put on the page for others to share.

Edward Coutenay Bullock, 4th great-grandson of Richard Bullock graduated from Harvard University in 1842 and settled in Eufala, Barbour County, Alabama where he was admitted to the bar. He served in the Alabama State Senate and when the Civil War broke out, he was selected to represent Alabama in delivering the address of welcome at the inaugural ceremonies for Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederacy.
Edward was a Colonel in the Civil War and was stationed in Mobile, Alabama where he contacted typhoid fever and died 23 December 1861. Bullock County Alabama was named in his honor.
