Robert Sheffield, where was he born and who were his parents? Robert is one of the early Sheffield's who was in North Carolina by 1770.
This Robert is believed to be a brother of John and William both who were in Cumberland Co. by 1767
No dates are known at this time for Robert or his wife Patty, nor where they married. One Robert Sheffield married in 1749 in New York to Susannah King born 29 May 1723, and died 1 May 1766. This could be the same Robert and remarried after the death of Susannah, and made his way South. No proof that this is the same Robert.
