Joseph Lane was born about 1787 in Virginia and died 1864 in Early Co. GA. Joseph son of Joseph Sr and Elizabeth Gwaltney of Virginia.
He married 10 October, 1809 in Caswell Co. North Carolina to Sarah "Sallie" Rice, born 1791 Caswell Co. NC. She died 1872 in Early Co., and is buried in Cedar Springs Community Cemetery
This family of Lanes married into the Roberts and Sheffield families several different ways.

6. Mary D. Lane born 17 August, 1824 NC., and died 31 March, 1895 in Early Co. GA. Mary married Jacob Wiley of NC.
Joseph Lane born 4 September, 1816 NC., and died 19 October, 1864 in Early Co. GA. He married 7 February, 1841 in Early Co. to Chloe Elizabeth Sheffield

Thomas Lane, son of Joseph Lane was born 24 April, 1814 in Caswell Co. NC., and died 17 August, 1864 in CSA. Thomas was killed in a battle outside of Atlanta at Peach Tree Creek while serving with the 12th Military. He is buried in Primitive Baptist cemetery in Miller Co.
Thomas married 22 December, 1836 Early Co. GA., to Rachel Roberts daughter of Drewry Roberts and Chloe Golightly.
