According to family lore, Dora's family may have been from Connecticut and migrated to Florida. Dora was born on McCoy's Blvd in Jax. She married Joseph Curry in Volusia Co., and had at least four children. At some point Dora returned to Jacksonville and later Joseph and the family followed. The timeframe for these events is somewhere around the mid to late 1800's.
Joseph's parents, while unknown, were married in Kissimmee. His mother's surname is supposedly Hunt and after the birth of their only son, Joseph, his father left the family. His mother also left him to be raised by family and remarried a man named Simmons. Joseph left Osceola Co at age fifteen and moved to Emporia. He was killed in a buggy accident on Moncreif Rd in the northside of Jax in 1931.
