What Does Photo-Safe Mean?


PHOTOSAFE TERMS

ACID FREE Any material that does not contain any acid that will destroy your photos. For paper or adhesives to be acid free it must be pH neutral which is 7.0 or higher. Acid-free paper will keep its color and not yellow over time. Acid-free adhesive or glue will not cause chemical degradation to your paper, photos or memorabilia.
LIGNIN FREEMaterials that are free of Lignin. Lignin can cause chemical degradation to paper. Lignin is found in most paper used to strengthen or stiffen products.
BUFFEREDAcid Free paper that is buffered (alkaline reserve) will counter the formation of acids which can cause chemical degradation to your photos.
MYLARA product made from clear polyester and is archival quality. Mylar Photo corners make it easy for you to remove your photo when you want to.
POLY-PROPOLENEMaterial that is made of safe plastics that are archival in quality and will not yellow photos.
PHOTO SAFERefers to those products that will not harm your photos. However this term is used loosely in the industry. Some products can have adhesives such as magnetic photo albums which will cause your photo albums to yellow and degradate over time.
