Going back on the maternal side we have found the thinnest of threads eminating from Ireland in 1685. Later on, we find strong documentation of the McDonald lines in Kentucky in the 1790's. Lastly we have seen John Campbell Spencer, Sr. listed in the New York City directory in 1879, where he owned a pharmacutical company. What we do not have is an explicable continuity which leads directly from Europe to America in the Spencer line. For instance we need to find more about John Campbell Spencer Sr. Where he was born in 1824 and how he came west. The family belief is that he came by ship around the horn, and he was a man of means.
On Katie's paternal side her father's ancestors were Irish (Dalton) and pioneers in Kentucky (Rhoads). The Rhoads arrived in California just before the winter of the Donner Part, and we members of the first rescue team to help in their relief. The Daltons came to California shortly there after, probably in the search for GOLD. What Dennis found was love.
