What we got here is a great confluence of historical perspectives. We got Son 2, Brandon, writing a term paper in one of them number grades in school, on this gentleman during his lustrous Civil War days. We got my grandmother in a footnote. We got my gr-gr-gr-grandfather Judge Shattuck as a "Know Nothing." And we got Katie's Rhodes banking from Sacramento with Sherman, and we get the San Francisco Banking look just a few years before Katie's gr-grandfather owned the Pacific Union Bank. So the Bear Flags for this book are waving in a mighty wind of family stuff.
