MACON COUNTY DEATH INDEX

1913 - 1978

Death Certificates were required in North Carolina in 1913.  They are kept in the Register of Deeds office in the County Seat of each county.  They are very helpful in genealogy.   They usually contain birth and death dates, parents names and place of birth of individual and parents.  You may obtain a copy of death certificate by writing to Register of Deeds Office, Macon County Court House, Franklin, NC  28734.  You will need to ask for a xerox of the original.    The following index was done by me from the master index, kept in the Register Deeds Office.  This is done by date and not alphabetically.  Please do not contact me to change spelling of names, parents names etc.  I have typed as it appears in the index.  Some dates and names were missing from the index, these will appear as lines.
