| Mrs. Ronningen Rothsay Dies Mother of Twelve Children, Nine Surviving - Brother Died At Sea Rothsay - April 10 - Mrs. Edward O. Ronningen died at her farm home close to this village at 2:30 o'clock this morning after a lingering illness of several years. She had been confined to her bed since June. Her maiden name was Augusta Gronlund and she was born at Smaalenne, near Oslo, Norway on February 3, 1865 and dies at the age of 68 years. She came to the United State with her parents, three brothers and one sister, in 1869, when a child. One brother died at sea and two others shortly after reaching Rushford, MN, where the family first located. They came to Rothsay in 1871 and took a homestead just north of town which has ever since been the family home. She was married to Mr. Ronningen in 1883, the ceremony being performed by the pioneer pastor, Rev. Rosholt. They were the parents of 12 children. One girl died in infancy and a boy died at the age of 2 years. Another son, Anton, died only seven weeks ago. She is survived by four sons and five daughters. They are Mrs. Anton Amundson, Mrs. Emil Amundson, Henry, Edwin, Eunice, Helen, Effie and Peter, all of Rothsay, Theodore of Cartwright, ND. She was a woman of fine Christian character and will be sadly missed in the home and community. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
