| In the 1865 Census Mari Olsdatter born 1792 is living at Smikop in Nordre Fron with Mari Amundsdatter born 1835, grandson Amund Monsen born 1857 and granddaughter Mari Monsdatter born 1860. Amund Amundsen huseman with land born 1818 and his wife R�nnaug Jakobsdatter born 1822 and their children Amund Amundsen, born 1851, Jakob Amundsen born 1853, Ole Amundsen born 1862, Mari Amundsen born 1844, Ingri Amundsen born 1846, (Mari & Ingri listed as Skr��dder), Kari Amundsen, born 1857, R�nnaug Amundsen born 1859, Thorline Amundsen born 1865. Emigrated to the United States in 1870 with all children except Ingri, who had married Thor Slaaen. In the early 1870's people either went to South Immanuel or Hedemarken for church services. The Smikop family often walked 12 miles to services held at the Ole Sletvold farm in Oscar. This family was instrumental in organizing the Hedemarken church. Wilkin School Dist 4 (2505) was organized on July 27, 1874. The school board included Gilbert Engelson, Ole Hanson, Amund Amundson, Gunder Hanson and Christen Tanberg. Teachers at Dist 4 included Anna Knudson, Anna Sethre Wood, Gena Engelson, Carl Knudson, O. E. Ronningen, Hannah Shirley, Clara Sethre, Thelma Moen, Ethel Grefsrud, Luella Moen, and Minnie Wee. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
