| Here you will find the descendents of Ole Pedersen Ronningen and Marit Larsd Haugen. Ole Pedersen, his wife Marit Larsdatter, and three children: Peder Olsen, Lars Olsen, and Anne Olsdatter, and Ole�s father, Peder Erlandsen, are listed in the church register at Ringebu as leaving for the United States in May of 1853. The family must have left Norway in May or June 1853 on a ship that must have landed at Quebec, Canada. Peder Erlandsen was born in Ringebu in 1792 and died at Lower Coon Valley in 1876 - aged 84. From a short biography of Lars Olsen Ronningen (written in 1884 for a county history) he said the family went to Dane County, Wisconsin (In south central Wisconsin around Madison) where they lived for about a year. Many Norwegians did this so they could learn where land was available. In December 1854 Ole Ronningen is listed as a member of the Lower Coon Valley Congregation at rural Stoddard. The family�s oldest son Peder Olsen (born in Ringebu January 5, 1847) was no longer with them when they came to Lower Coon Valley. He must have died either on the crossing or in Dane County. Ole Pedersen and Marit Larsdatter, and Peder Erlandsen, Ole�s father, were tenants at Onshusrydningen. Ole Pedersen was only 60 years old when he died. In 1880 Lars and Mathia were already married so they were probably no longer at home. Peter may have been farming at home, and Edward, Karen, and Oluf certainly were there. Marit Larsd moved to Rothsay Minnesota with her sons Edward and Oluf. Marit died at Edward Ronningen's home in 1904.
