* Exported from MasterCook * CALIFORNIA CHILI Recipe By : Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Main Dish Side Dish Beans Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 lb Kidney beans 3 lb Chicken 3 tb Olive oil 4 Garlic cloves -- sliced 3 Onions -- peel/chop 1 t Cumin seed -- whole 2 Jalapeno peppers 2 c Prepared chili sauce 4 Tomatoes -- chopped 2 Green bell peppers 1 tb Worcestershire sauce 1 c Red wine Salt -- to taste Soak the kidney beans overnight; drain. Cut up the chicken into serving pieces. Cook the beans and brown the chicken. Seed and chop the jalapeno peppers and the bell peppers. Heat a large frying pan and add the oil. Saute the garlic, onions, cumin seeds and jalapeno peppers until the onions are clear. Add all to a heavy pot and bring to a simmer. Cook for 1 hour. Comments: This one has to be different. If it came from California it is expected to be unusual. Try this. No avocado, but chicken and a very mild chili sauce from a jar. It is really a great dish, although one should not confuse it with the old-line chili cookers' product.
