                 BEN AND JERRY'S CHERRY GARCIA ICE CREAM

     1/4   c            Shaved plain chocolate(they
                        Prefer Hersheys Dark
     1/4   c            Bing cherries,pit and 1/2'd
   2                    Large eggs
     3/4   c            Sugar
   2       c            Heavy or whipping cream
   1       c            Whole milk

  Place the shaved chocolate flakes and the cherries in
  separate bowls. Cover and refrigerate. Whisk the eggs
  in a mxing bowl until light and fluffy, 1-2 minutes.
  Whisk in the sugar, a little at a time, then continue
  whisking until completely bblended, about 1 minute
  more. Pour the cream and milk in,m and whisk to blend.
  Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and freeze
  according to manufacturer's instructions. After the
  ice cream stiffens( about 2 minutes before it is done)
  add the choclate and the cherries, then continue
  freezing until the ice cream is ready. Makes 1 quart.
  
  Note: How to shave a chocolate bar: Easy: Place the
  chocolate in the freezer until it is very hard. Then
  shave it over a bowl using a cheese grater(large
  holes).
