Introduction

These are the first seven issues of Finnell notes and such that may or may not be of interest to members of the Finnell Family in America.

Most of the following entries are from materials in the files of Harry L. Keller, deceased, of Florida. I was able to purchase from a Finnell cousin in California a box of research notes and correspondence compiled by Mr. Keller from the 1940's through the 1960's. The majority of the materials is correspondence with Finnell relatives around the Unted States in searching for Finnell records. A large number of questionnaires also contain a wealth of Family data by family members. The files also contain several Family Bible entries not discovered before, and some very old photographs that may prove to be interesting.

The files seem to be somewhat unorganized and in going through them I have discovered pockets of specific Family data (questionnaires) that have been of interest. The result is that I have been using these questionnaires to compile some very short Finnell Genealogies. I had hopes that in doing the records this way I would be able to see the relationships and connections better. Please remember that these are not complete or error free, and many times incomplete. I would hope that otheres would have additional data that could complete the records and share them. Many of the Familly Letters are of great interest and provide clues for further searching.

I have included the newly found Family Bibles in this publication to continue the work done in Finnell Bible Records and Finnell Cemetery Transcripts, Volume 1 1993. More of these may appear as the sorting and organization of the Keller papers continues.

Publication of these genealogical excerpts on the World Wide Web is intended to let a wide audience of interested family members have access to this information in a quick and accessible form. If you would like to have an indexed printout of this and subsequent information, please let me know. It is not my intention to make money on this but I will ask you to contribute towards the xerox cost and postage. Please write for price.

Any donations of additional information, corrections and additions are always welcome!

Here's a picture of the Old Finnell-Gartner Cemetery near Front Royal, VA. We believe Reuben Finnell, our Revolutionary War Ancestor, is buried here along with some of our other ancestors.
