1900 Census-Preston, Platte Co.,MO; living in household of Levi Green dau. Melinda, her hus. Strand French and their son, Charles E. French.
Margaret R. Bates: Levi Green and wife Nancy - five children listed with their spouses - source unknown. Marriage to Nancy reported 1851, assume mother of James and probably Noah. Gap in children's birthdates suggest Nancy may have died between 1858 (Noah born) and 1864 (oldest child shown on 1880 census with mother Mary). Still needs to be proved.

1. JOHN WESLEY GREEN was born 1862, and died 1905. He married SARAH ZERILDA THOMAS.
Note: The family farmed in Butler and Nevada, Missouri. Jess (John Wesley) was a preacher (not sure of the religion) and printer. He disappeard around 1905 near Kansas City, MO while on his way home after being paid. His body was never recovered and he was presumed murdered. The family of John Wesley Green were stated as being very staunch American patriots.
This branch of the family came originally from Rhode Island and were connected there in some way, with Iron Mongering (dealing or trading in Iron). John Wesley's branch is supposed to descend from a brother of the Revolutionary War General, Nathanael Greene*, who was from a Quaker family in Potowomut (Warwick), RI (born 1742, died 1786). Nathanael Greene was expelled from the Quaker church. Family record also notes this family as having some "connection" with Mad Anthony Wayne*, another leader of the American Revolution.
