Notes: According to Curtis - History of St. Lawrence County, N.Y. there are 8 children. There is no mention of Fanny - which could be a nickname for Elizabeth or Salley. Fanny Kennedy is mentioned in the will of John Ashton as his sister. The family came to America in the years between 1819-1822 from England (except possibly Elizabeth). They were all members of the Church of England.

3. WALKER2 ASHTON (MATTHEW1) was born Abt 1786 in England2, and died May 20, 1838. He married PRISCILLA EVANS 1832. Priscilla was born abt. 1796 and was married first to Samuel Goulding (1815-1821 Montreal,Canada) and 2nd Samuel McCall (1823-1830). She died at Waterloo, Canada, March 8, 1886, in her ninetieth year.
Notes: Walker came to America in the years between 1819-1822 from England. He was a dealer in silks and jewelry, dealing between New York and Montreal until 1828; in the years from 1835 to 1838 he was high sheriff of Yamaskia County, P.Q. Age at death 51.

4. MARY ASHTON (MATTHEW1) was born Abt 1790, and died 1880 in Parishville, St. Lawrence, NY. Mary was buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, St. Lawrence County. She married THOMAS STONE. They were married on April 1, 1827 in Chambly, Quebec, Canada.

6. WILLIAM HENRY ASHTON (WALKER2, MATTHEW1) was born May 18, 1834. He married JULIA A. FRARY, of Stockholm, NY, August 14, 1859. Her parents came from Lewis County, NY. Julia died May 24, 1884 ath the age of 45.
Notes: Dealer in and manufacturer of carriages, also general dealer in farm implements. He began to learn his carriage trade at the age of nineteen with E.B. Rounds, of Swanton, Vt., and in the year 1856 came to Brasher Falls, NY, where he was in business, conducting his carriage shop and also a farmer. He was a constable for twenty years and deputy sheriff for six years, and served at least 9 years as township assessor.
