Does it seem like time is speeding up for you? Does it seem like you don't have as much time as you need to do the 50,000 things on your "TO DO" list? Don't you just love those "TO DO" lists? Instead of going away, they seem to keep multiplying at a rapid rate. I want to encourage your heart today by telling you not to give up hope, because God is still on the throne!
We really believe that this year will be a year of transition for the body of Christ. God is doing so many "new" things in His people and in His corporate body that it's absolutely mind boggling. It's exciting to be a part of all that God is doing in the earth today. Even though many are fearful about the Y2K issue, the Holy Ghost has a plan. He's not wringing His hands in fear and worry. He's not pacing up and down the corridors of heaven telling the Father and the Son to get their act together. The Lord doesn't want us to live in fear over Y2K or any other issue that may arise in 1999. We must realize that Y2K is just another "sign" telling us that the coming of the Lord is approaching more quickly than we think.
Christians, all over the world, are discussing this issue and are trying to decide what they need to be doing to prepare themselves and their families. I encourage you to listen to the Holy Spirit. What is the Lord directing you to do? Has He been speaking some specific things to your heart? If so, be obedient to His promptings and you will not be disappointed in the end. If the Lord is telling you to stock up on food supplies, water, heaters etc., be obedient to His prompting. If He's not speaking anything specific to you at this time, then just rest in the fact that He will take care of you.
If you decide to prepare for the worst and nothing happens, you're not out anything. You'll be able to bless your neighbors, family and friends with your abundance.
What about money? Should we pull all of our money out of the bank? Again, you need to listen to the Holy Spirit. What does He want you to do? It sure wouldn't hurt to have a supply of cash on hand. If everyone in the whole country went to their banks and took out all of the cash from their checking and savings accounts, the banks would be out of business and they would have to close up shop. I don't believe that would be a wise decision, but I would probably keep a specific amount of money on hand just in case it's needed. You must listen to the Lord and I believe that He will guide you and show you exactly what you are to do.
Regardless of what happens, we don't have to live in fear regarding Y2K or any other crisis that may come our way. God is our provider and our helper. He's not going to leave us nor forsake us. He never forsook the children of Israel and He's not going to forsake us. He loves us and He will take care of us no matter what may happen. We are in His hands. We must not allow ourselves to live in fear. So,if you're already shaking in your boots regarding all the Y2K issues, please find that place of rest in the Lord and ask Him to give you His peace.
Matthew 6:25-34 - Jesus said, "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore, do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
