A small portion of Mr. Hartsell's story:
My family came to Oklahoma from Louisiana, in 1906. My father drove through from south Louisiana with a wagon and team of ponies, he was on the road 30 days.
"My Uncle J.C. Hartsell came to this country in 1881, before there was a P.O. at Ardmore and when Ft Gibson was the nearest trading point in the Territory located 4 miles north of Hulbert, which is a place of considerable historical interest. The same being known as the 'Lost City' neighborhood, supposed according to tradition to the first place of encampment of any white man in this country during the 16th Century, where a Spanish Colony was lost".
