"The rhema is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is,
the rhema of faith, which we preach....So then faith cometh by hearing
and hearing by the rhema of God." Rom. 10:8,17
"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the rhema of God" Ephesians 6:17
"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every rhema of God." Mat. 4:4
The above rhema verses obviously confirm Word of Faith teaching of confessing the Word. Speaking the Word is so important because it is our sword and what we should live by. Also, when we speak it, we hear it, so then more faith comes.
One verse I was surprised to find out was logos (written word) was Revelation 12:11, "they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the written word of their testimony". At first, it disturbed me (I thought it should've been rhema), but I got to meditating on it more.
I noticed the word "testimony" means they were testifying or speaking. Speaking what? The written Word of God. Also, notice "they overcame". How? 1 John 5:4 reveals we overcome the world by our faith. How does faith come? By hearing the Word. In other words, they overcame by their faith, which comes by hearing the written Word they are testifying to (or confessing). So, that verse shows us our faith confessions have to be in line with the Word of God.
