I believe that everything happens "for a reason."
In other words, God has His hand in everything.
Every incidence, no matter how small or how grand,
is a thread in the awesomely intricate pattern of life's tapestry.

Every person God brings into our lives
will impact us in some way.
We learn something from everyone.

But let it be the hidden man of the heart,
in that which is not corruptible,
even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit,
which is in the sight of God of great price.1 Peter 3:4
I chose the background for this page with my friend, Suzie's personality in mind. As I have gotten to know her better over the years, I have discovered that she is very much like a rose.
Among all the other flowers in full bloom, a lovely rosebud can be difficult to notice. It is small, quiet, nestled in its bush, seemingly hidden from the world. Yet what secrets of promised beauty are locked within!
I met Suzie about 5 years ago, when I was 14 and she was 15. She went to church with my grandma, who introduced us through e-mail when I lived in Washington. It was great fun when I moved back to my family's hometown, where Suzie happens to live, a short time ago. I'm so used to being the new kid on the block, it was nice to already have a friend in the area.![]()

Suzie and I are very different. We are opposites in a lot of areas. We enjoy discussing theology and sharing our different viewpoints. Sometimes, we read through the Bible together. We read certain chapters and then discuss what we've read on the telephone.
My family enjoys spending time with Suzie, and she puts up with all the "little brother blessings."
My five year old brother, Maverick, has taken to calling her a "Beautiful, Beautiful Pink Rose."
Suzie's friendship is a blessing to me, and I am greatly enjoying the privilege of glimpsing at the rose within.
