James and LaVesta HAMILTON
James Lewis HAMILTON was probably born in Monroe Co KY in 1824. In
1855, he married LaVesta Jane HESTAND and about 1858 they moved to Johnson Co TX
where they lived the rest of their lives. I would really like to find information

There was a John Hamilton next farm over from J.K.Hestand, Lavesta's family, and
he might be the father of J.L. but so far I have had no luck in connecting them, but it
does seem logical. Search continues, someday I might get lucky on this one.
I (Susan) also feel that this is the father of JL. There is a lot of circumstancal
evidence to put this family together. I think that John's wife died in the
1840's. I also think that there were two or three other girls in this family.
In Monroe Co in 1850 there is a Margaret Hamilton age 22 working as a servant.

CIVIL WAR: Wm R served with Co F 3 reg Ark Inf Vols. "I was dischareged 17th
day of Sept 1861 by reason of disability & have been a suffer every since".
This was the statement that he made when he filed for a pension on 6 Jul 1891.
This was witnessed by Francis M Guerin (his brother-in-law).
Honorably discharged 1st day of Feby 1863. On 19 Jun 1901 he states that
such incapacity (or disability) is the result of "old age. I being now 81
years old". He then made his mark.
He was in "F" Co 3rd Reg Ark Vols fall of 1861 to Feby 1863.
8 May 1912 - Physicans statement: Extent of disability "Total not able to
wait on self most of the time". This info taken from AR pension files
LDS 1722486.

1840 Monroe Co census shows that John Hamilton had a daughter in this age
range. The 1850 census has a Margaret Hamilton working as a servant who was
born 1827. She may or may not be the right person. Further research has to be
done.
