The Lochers were Germans that emigrated to Hungary in the early 1800s, after Hungary was devasted by several wars in a row. Thus Locher has its roots in Germany. There are many Lochers in Switzerland also, but we don't know at present how we are related to them. Locher means 'locksmith'.

- Ferenz (Frank) Locher (b. Feb 9, 1879, Csolnok, HUN; m. Nov 7, 1901; d. Nov 3, 1965, Trenton, MI). Frank was a mason.
  and Anna Pfluger (b. Jul 25, 1882, Dorog, HUN; d. May 8, 1956, Detroit, MI).
  Anna had a brother, Frank Pfluger, who helped Ferenz build a roadside chapel in Csolnok.
  When Ferenz first came to the US, he was required to list a residence. He listed Ginzinger's as the residence. The gov't said there were too many people going to Ginzinger's so he had to go back to Hungary. He later returned to the US. Ferenz became somewhat famous for telling stories on the ship as he traveled to the US. People would actually pay him to hear his stories.

He was in the Naval Reserves from Sep 21, 1947 to Sep 20, 1952. He received the following decorations: Victory medal, American Theatre ribbon, ETO with one bronze battle star, Good Conduct, European Occupational medal.
