Georgia's Piedmont region, shown in yellow. The Piedmont is a large physiographic region underlain by crystalline metamorphic rocks, and extends from the Fall-Line zone on the south (bordering the sedimentary rocks of the Coastal Plain) to the mountainous Blue Ridge and Ridge and Valley regions to the north.
The base map here was constructed using a larger-format map available for sale at the Georgia Department of Archives and History in Atlanta.
