FIFTH GENERATION

James Waldrop (1751-1846) and Mary Morrison (1761-c1850)

James Waldrop was born on February 8, 1751 in Virginia, the son of James and Susannah Waldrop of Pittsylvania County. During the Revolutionary War, James enlisted in 1776 as a private in Captain Thomas Hudgins' Company within Colonol James Hendricks' Regiment of the Virginia Continental Line. Following the war, on September 29, 1788, James Waldrop married Mary Morrison in Pittsylvania County.

By as early as 1814, James and Mary Waldrop had relocated their family to Putnam County, Georgia, where they lived until relocating to Fayette County after 1825. Though he recorded his will there on August 4, 1836, James survived another full decade, dying on December 3, 1846 at the age of 95. His grave is located in the Bottoms Family Cemetery in Fayette County, where his tombstone records his Revolutionary service. James' wife Mary died about the same time. See the full transcript of James and Mary Waldrop's Revolutionary War pension applications and a transcript of James Waldrop's will.
