I hope you'll keep us informed of any further developments in the Evans Chronology.

Sir,
Your site is fantastic! J.J. Evans is my most distant "Evans" ancestor I have been able to find, he's my great-great-great grandfather. I tracked him down several years ago, back before my children were born and I had more time on my hands. I even foun
the grave site you have pictures of here about 10 years ago, and took a set of pictures. It was one of the warmest moments of my life seeing the headstone in the cemetary in back of the pasture, I felt a connection with the man, almost as if he knew I w
s there. His son Joseph was my great-great grandfather. I knew he was killed at Cold Harbor, but the pictures you had made it seem so much more real. In one of the stranger coincidences, my great-great grandfather on my paternal grandmother's side was
illed in this same battle the day before! (I have his name, but it's in a book I loaned to a cousin of mine to do a college term paper.) His last name was Brock, and he was in a different unit than Joseph Evans, an artillery unit if I remember correctly
And remember, this was 2 generations before there was any connection at all between our families! I've been told a cousin of mine has a small whistle that belonged to Joseph Evans, one that he left with his wife when he was home on leave. Thanks so mu
h for putting this site together, it means a lot to me to see where I came from. I would dearly love to take the connection back a couple of generations before Joshua Evans, I'd really like to know where we came from "across the water." Please let me kn
w if there is anything I can do to help your research.

My name is Patricia Williamson Patty. My father was Gordon R. Williamson, and his father was Robert Lee Willamson.
Both were born here in Anniston, AL as far as I know. Most of my family are dead and I have no records for this search. How could I best proceed? This is all new to me.
Any assistance or pointers would be appreciated.

W W. During the 1860 census, GWW should have been listed as 11 yrs. Is it to big a stretch to assume that is my ggfather? Thanks for any help with this.

This is a very comprehensive site. I am descended from the son of Robert Green Duke,
John Monroe Duke. John's daughter, Martha
Jane Duke, married my great grand father,
John Thomas Camp. John and Jane's daughter,
Omi, is still living at age 97. I was fortunate to
video my daughter interviewing her several
years ago. Omi relates that her mother, Martha
Jane, was the midwife for the area of Douglas
and Paulding Counties that the family lived in.
She recalls many of the herb remedies her mother used. Omi told us that Martha learned
her trade from her father John Duke who had
been a doctor in the Civil War. My research
did not find anything to substantiate that; however, John served for almost the entire war.
I'd be happy to share my information with anyone
interested.

nice site! We have several surnames in common, including STAFFORD and KIGHT. My KIGHT's were in southeast Georgia in the mid-1800's and I've still got some confusion as to where they came from. The earliest KIGHT in my line is a John (maybe John C.) wh
married a Mary. My STAFFORD's are Josiah (or Joseph) and daughter Belinda. I think Josiah was from NC.
I was also curious about your BUNTYN's. It's a name you don't see every day. My married name is BUNTEN from Bernard BUNTEN of the Kingston, NY area.
Happy hunting and thanks for an interesting site!
