Joseph Burkett Dies At Home In Markton 

Lifelong Resident of That Section Succumbed to the Infirmities of Age at 85 Years. 

Joseph Burkett, a lifelong resident of the Markton section died in his home in Markton at 9:00 o'clock this morning at the age of 85 years.  Death was brought on by the infirmities of old age, although he had been ill but three weeks. 
  The deceased was born near Markton on March 17, 1850, a son of Samuel Burkett.  When a young man he was united in marriage to Miss Lydia Thomas.  Mr. Burkett had been engaged in the farming industry during his entire life and was regarded as one of the most successful farmers in the section.  He was a devout member of the United Brethren Church.  A quiet, friendly man, his death is sincerely mourned by his host of friends. 
  Besides his widow the following sons and daughters survive him; Mrs John Burkett and Melvin of Markton; Harry and Ad, of Anita; Godfrey, of Emerickville; Mrs. Nora Icher, of Yatesboro; Mrs. Mary Miller, of Akron, O., and Mrs Emma Shaffer, of near this city. 
  Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
