Here
is the start of the good stuff. The links below will lead you to
what I consider the main courses in BURKET family genealogy. The
first is my direct line, Johan Dedric and the BURKET's in Bedford and Jefferson
County... the second, the BURKET move to TEXAS which is directly
out of my direct line... and lastly, "the other side of the family", Johan
Jacob Burckhardt's line and his descendents.

Dedric Burket
Johan
was married to Polly Koontz who was to be of Prussian nobility and an accomplished
pianist. It is said she immigrated and brought some modest trappings
of her European background with her. She was never able to adapt
to the harsh life in the "new land" and her and Johan Dedric later returned
to Germany and died there.
The
TEXAS Connection.
The
"TEXAS Connection" started with John William Burket, son of Johan Dedric
Burket moved to Missouri in 1804. They settled in the St. Charles
District of the Louisianna Territory. He lived here until the 1830
when they moved south along with family friends to locate in the newly
formed DeWitt Colony in Texas.

Jacob Burckhardt
Johan
Jacob was the brother of Johannes Burckhardt, the father of Johan Dedric
above. This line is being researched very heavily at the present
time and information is constantly changing. As soon as I feel comfortable
with a good lineage I'll place a link here. Until then I'll just
give you a descendent chart that I can not guarantee the accuracy of.
