REFERENCES FOR ON MARTHA DAUGHTER OF WILLIAM DOUGHTY & RACHEL PORCHER:

1792- Martha married Theodore Gaillard on 1 Nov 1792. The Gaillard family was
a French Huguenot family descendants of Joachim Gaillard of Lanquedoc, and his
wife, Esther Paparel. Their sons, Bartholomew, John and Pierre were the first
generation in Carolina. Theodore was the great grandson of Bartholomew.

1822- Henry moved to New York City with his mother when he was eleven years old. [Lloyd/Vital/002] 1838- Henry married Margaret Dey Herbert, daughter of James Herbert and Sarah
Dey, about Nov 1838.

1839- Son, Edwin Virginius Lloyd born 26 Aug 1839; died 7 Feb 1841. [Lloyd/Vital/018]

1841- Son, Edwin Herbert Lloyd born 24 Aug 1841 in New York City (from Edwin's Civil War pension file.)

1842- Henry of New York City bought 2 acres of land in Freehold Twp., Englishtown, NJ for $110. [Lloyd/Land/001]

1842- In Longworth's New York City Directory for 1842-3, Henry T. Lloyd is listed as "physician" at 3 Prince, home 27 Stanton. on pg.385 of Longworth's Almanac [LOC Fiche 959:6] In Doggett's NYC Directory for the same period, Henry is listed as a "botanist" at 3 Prince, h. 27 Stanton.

1843- Eliza Jaco, age 9 Yrs., apprenticed to Henry T. Lloyd, botanist, and Margaret his wife of 16 Stanton St., 18 Jan 1843 in New York City. [Lloyd/Misc/006,p. 248]. Eliza Jaco is later listed as Elisa "Lloyd" age 17 in the 1850 US Census for Raritan Twp, Monmouth Co., NJ. [Lloyd/Vital/051]

1843- In Doggett's NYC Directory for 1843-44, Henry is listed as "botanist" at 3 Prince, h. 10 Prince.

1844- Henry T. Lloyd is listed as a "druggest" at 3 Prince, home 5 Prince in Doggett's NYC Directory for 1844-45.

1844- Daughter, Mary Virginia, is born on 19 Jun 1844 in New York. [Lloyd/Vital/051; Lloyd/Vital/018] The tombstone at Old Tennent Cemetery for Mary V. (Lloyd) Noble w. George F., says b. 19 Jun 1845, d. Oct 1890. [NJ/Vital/001;p.332]

1845- Daughter, Ada Lousa Lloyd born 27 Nov 1845; died 3 Dec 1845. [Lloyd/Vital/018]

1846- Henry of New York City bought 3 acres of land (Lot 1) in Keyport, Monmouth Co., NJ for $315.

1848- Son, Francis G. Lloyd born 26 May 1848 in Keyport, NJ. [Lloyd/Vital/044]

1850- Henry T. Lloyd sold property in NJ to James Applegate on 3 Jul 1850. Index of NJ Deeds N5/564.

1850- US Census for Raritan Twp., Monmouth Co., NJ; taken 19 Sep 1850. Henry T. age 38; Margaret 31; Edwin H. 9; Mary (V?) 6; Francis 3; Elisa 17. Eliza is Eliza Jaco apprenticed to Henry T. Lloyd and later adopted. [Lloyd/Vital/051]

1850- Daughter, Luella Josephine, born 27 Nov 1850/1, Raritan Twp, Monmouth Co., NJ. The IGI for NJ shows her parents as Henry Lloyd/Elisabeth. This can't be right. [Lloyd/Vital/035] p. 8174.

1853- Henry Lloyd of Monmouth Co., NJ bought for $73.54 as highest bidder a lot near Keyport in Raritan Twp., Monmouth Co., NJ [Lloyd/Land/010]

1858- Henry Lloyd ux sold property in NJ to David Warner Vol.Z6 p.430.

1860- US Census for New York 4th D. 10th Ward; New York Co., NY; taken 15 June

1860; Roll 798, p. 107. Henry Loyd, policeman, age 45, b. SC; Margaret age 40, occupation boarding house; Edward 19, app. mason; Mary age 15; Frank age 12; Josephene age 9; Mary age 93; John age 59. [Lloyd/Vital/052]

1861- In the NYC Directories from 1861-1864, Henry is listed as "police" living at 270 Broome.

1861- Henry's mother, Mary Trusler Lloyd died at age 94. Obit in the New York Herald for 20 Feb 1861 reads, "LLOYD--On Tuesday, February 19, at the residence of her son, Mary Lloyd, in the 94th year of her age. The friends and acquaintances of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, from the residence of her son, No. 270 Broome Street, on Thursday afternoon, at
two o'clock, without further invitation. Charleston, S.C., papers please copy." [Lloyd/Vital/055].

1861- Residing at at 270 Broome Street which is three streets south and a little west of 16 Stanton St. where Henry lived in 1843. Both are east of the Sara D. Roosevelt Park in Manhattan. See 1963 map of NYC. [Lloyd/Misc/015]

1863- Henry T. Lloyd is listed in the NYC Directory as "police" at 270 Broome.

1864- Henry T. Lloyd ux sold property in NJ to Bernard O'Hara on 11 Jul 1864. NJ Deed Index, Vol.177, p.199.

1865- Henry no longer is listed in the New York City Directory.

1867- Henry's older brother, John Edwin Lloyd, died on 12 Dec 1867 and is buried in the Old Tennent Churchyard in NJ. He was 66 years old. I could not find an obit for him in the NYC newspapers. [NJ/Vital/001;p.281]

1871- Wife, Margaret Dey Herbert Lloyd, died in New York City. Obit in the New York Times for 15 Sep 1871, p.5 reads: "LLOYD--Suddenly, on Wednesday, Sept. 13, Margaret D. Herbert, wife of
Henry T. Lloyd. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, at 11 A.M. in the Tennent Church, Freehold, NJ." [Lloyd/Vital/054] Same obit appearred in the NY Tribune for 15 Sep 1871, p.5, col. 5. Buried Old Tennent churchyard, Tennent, NJ. [NJ/Vital/001;p.311]

1873- Henry T. Lloyd of Shrewsburg purchased a lot on First St. in Shrewsbury Twp. for $300. [Lloyd/Land/011]

1880- US Census for Shrewsburg Twp., 3d Dist, Monmouth Co., NJ on 22 June 1880. Henry T. lloyd age 68 is living alone, listed as a retired druggist. His birthplace and that of his father and mother was South Carolina. His son, Edward F. is living a few doors away.

1888- Henry T. Lloyd sold on 3 Nov 1888 to his daughter-in-law, Sarah E. Lloyd, his property on First St. in Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., NJ. for $800. [Lloyd/Land/009]

1889- Henry Trusler Lloyd died at age 78 on 25 Jun 1889 in New York City at the home of his son, Francis Guerin Lloyd at 2036 Fifth Avenue. Francis Guerin Lloyd was president of Brooks Brothers Clothier at the time. Henry was buried at Old Tennent churchyard, Tennent, NJ. [Lloyd/Vital/002] [NJ/Vital/001;p.331]


109. Edwin Herbert LLOYD

According to Betty Keating Mitchell, her great-grandfather ran away to sea as a
boy (11 yrs. old) and served as a cabin boy on clipper ship (tea ship to
China). She also said he was wounded in the Civil War and lost part of his
hand.

112. Francis Guerin LLOYD

I have checked the 1900, 1910, 1920 censuses for Francis Guerin Lloyd in Bernards Twp. and can not find him. His estate was the Maples in Bernardsville at the time he died. There is only one Guerin in Bernards Twp. in 1910. In 1850 there are several Guerins in Bernards Twp., Somerset Co. NJ. with
properties worth $3000 to $5000. The connection between the Lloyds and Guerins in still a mystery.
