Sand Hill
Mt Enterprise, Texas

I have been here many times,
For some reason it always feels like home.
I have been here in good times and bad times,
When I was told I had als, this is where I came to be alone,
And yet while I was here, I did not feel that way
It was as though even in silence I was comforted.
It is so peaceful here - if you are still you can listen and
hear the wind and the birds The view is always spectacular; I can see for miles, Many times I have seen storm clouds in the distance, and other times be in
the midst of them, And yet I think the reason I come here is not just because of this view, But to go back in time.
To picture my dad as a little boy. I picture what it must have been like 90 years ago, With the one room school house nearby, I know he didnt go to school long, But I know he was here, He told me so. His memory was sharp as he pointed out his granddads cabin, His aunt and uncles homes, He told me of stories about his granddad, I wished I had only asked more. I see myself walking in the footsteps he once walked in, And yet I dont feel like I can walk there, I could never fill his shoes, But he has left me something that I can grow in, No matter what happens in the future. As long as I can, I will always come back here, To look in the distance and remember, That will always be here
