The Book of Revelations Part Nine: The Seventh Seal Part III, Messenger of Thunder FBFC Men’s Thursday night Bible study 11 February, 1999 May God watch over us as we look to Him for clarity and unity regarding this great Prophesy that He has left for us. May He guide our thoughts, our words and our conversation and may He grace us by allowing His Holy Spirit to be present with us. Read Revelations 10:1-11 The Messenger
Notice the descriptions: cloud, rainbow, sun, columns of fire, voice of a lion. Are these unique properties of this angel? How is this description different than the way the world sees angels, especially in recent times with the current "Angel Movement" seen everywhere? This Messenger is delivering God's message to all Creation as he positions himself on land, in sea and in air.
Compare: Ex. 3:2, 14:19; Nu. 22:31; Jud. 6:21, 13:6, 18-20 (their names are secret); 2Sam. 24:16; 2Kings 19:35; 1Ch. 21:12-16, 27, 30; Isa. 37:36
Christ is the Prince of Peace, "Fear not" verses: Mt. 1:20, 28:2, 5. Christ encourages gentleness between God's army and His People.
Also notice 2Cor. 11:14. This is a stout warning against trusting angels who "send themselves". If they're not relaying God's message in the Spirit, then they are not of God.
The Thunderous Censoring: Read verse 4
What have we seen Thunder to represent in this book and in others? What is this verse saying? Why doesn't God reveal everything to His people at this time?
The Message: Read verses 5-7, compare to Rev. 6:10.
What is the significance to the right hand in verse 5? What IS the message that the angel brings in verse 6? Is verse 7 an inconsistency to verse 4? Why or why not.
The Little Scroll: Read verses 5-10
What can be the underlying significance of the sweet taste yet the bitter digestion (especially in view of this being the 6th Seal and 6th Trumpet)? Compare to Rev. 1:3.
The Commission: Read verse 11, who are the voices speaking this message to?
